Point Source Youth
Point Source Youth is a national non-profit organization dedicated to ending youth homelessness in 50 cities and towns in 10 years. We help advocate for, implement, and evaluate three proven, scalable, and replicable youth homelessness interventions – family & kinship strengthening, short-term host homes, and rapid re-housing.
We are currently working in Baltimore, Detroit, Los Angeles, Louisville, New York City, Oakland, San Jose, and San Francisco, and adding new pilot locations regularly.
This position requires strong knowledge of program design as well as a proactive, flexible, and entrepreneurial mindset suited to a young and dynamic organization that is experiencing rapid growth and transformation.

We’re looking for a passionate, driven and innovative Research & Program Associate to support our programming out of our New York City Headquarters in Union Square. Our mission at Point Source Youth is to end the crisis of youth homelessness in 50 cities and communities across the U.S. in ten years. Our interventions are centered in youth-choice and our philosophy is grounded in dismantling systems of structural oppression, adultism, racism, transphobia, and homophobia.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Northeast, the Research & Program Associate will work to support all Point Source Youth programs and the annual National Symposium on Solutions to End Youth Homelessness (June 17-19, 2019).
The Research & Program Associate will:
Help schedule, coordinate, and co-lead meetings with service providers, partnering agencies, government officials, and funders.
Travel for site and partner visits.
Conduct research and identify best practices to store and communicate information from providers and youth across the northeast.
Support the Associate Director, Northeast and agency staff on Symposium-related tasks and needs.
Support Point Source Youth social media and brand growth and identify potential marketing opportunities for the annual Symposium.
This role is part of a three-year promotional track to an Associate Director position. Professional development and skill-building will be integrated into quarterly assessments to support growth and mobility within the organization.
Lived experience with being unstably housed as a youth
Demonstrated commitment to ending youth homelessness
Commitment to the social justice field
One year of full-time office experience including internships and fellowships
Minimum of one year of experience in administrative, advocacy, coalition, or nonprofit role
Demonstrated commitment to partnership and collaboration with young adults who have experienced homelessness
Experience working with LGBTQ communities
Excellent writing and communication skills
Proven ability and desire to work independently
Willingness to travel
Proven experience with social media
Proven ability to excel in an office setting
Passion for team collaboration
Compensation & Details
This position will work regular office hours out of the Point Source Youth New York City Headquarters in Union Square. The compensation package includes a full-time salary as well as a strong benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision. Three weeks of vacation are included as well as quarterly professional development opportunities.
