This week Point Source Youth is hitting the ground running in the South as Larry and Todd, our new Associate Director, South, are meeting with amazing community partners and Continuum of Care leads throughout North Carolina. Already this week the two have met with RAIN and Time Out Youth Center, two remarkable Charlotte-based organizations who have been supporting youth for decades. In addition to talking with these groups about expansions of rapid re-housing options for young adults in the city and strengthening a long-running host home program for LGBTQ youth, Larry and Todd also had a productive meeting with the Charlotte/Mecklenburg County CoC lead, Rebecca Pfeiffer, discussing ways Point Source Youth can support and expand the current housing resources for Charlotte’s youth.
Larry and Todd head to Raleigh and Durham later in the week for eight additional meetings with staff from housing agencies currently supporting youth, executive directors of two LGBTQ centers, and representatives from the Raleigh/Wake County, Durham, and Balance of State CoCs. This week highlights the importance of Southern-based work in Point Source Youth’s mission to end youth homelessness across the country.
Stay tuned for more updates from the South as we expand our efforts across the region to empower agencies to support more youth experiencing homelessness.
