Presentation: Early Intervention at the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary

Boys and Girls Club of Calgary

Katie Davis, MA, Senior Director of Services, presents various aspects of the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary's robust program for youth homelessness, which includes prevention, outreach, and housing and shelters. With centralized referral service and interim case management, family support for homelessness prevention/diversion, relationship-based case management, and support for family reconnection and strengthening, the Boys and Girls Club serves hundreds of youth. They emphasize a relationship-based perspective, acknowledge the stages of change, practice a strengths-based approach and trauma-informed care, and take a systems perspective. This presentation additionally shares lessons learned, particularly from practicing relationship-based case management, and displays outcomes from three of their programs: 828-HOPE, Elements, and Script.
