Joanne Rosen

Board Member Joanne Rosen is a Practice Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health. She is the Co-Director of the Center for Law and the Public’s Health. Her work focuses on the public health impact of laws that regulate abortion, reproductive health, intimate behavior and relationships, and sexual and gender diverse populations, as well as the stigma and discrimination associated with these laws. Educated in Canada, Joanne obtained her JD and MA at the University of Toronto. She served as counsel to the Ontario Human Rights Commission for 17 years, specializing in human rights and administrative law. Joanne is a member of the Board of Managerial Trustees of the International Association of Women Judges, a non-governmental organization that advances human rights, equal justice and the rule of law through its network of women judges, and a member of the Hackerman Foundation Board of Trustees, a private Maryland-based philanthropy that provides grants to support nonprofit organizations that serve underrepresented groups.
