Rocio Evelin Carranza Jacinto

Associate Director, Direct Cash Transfers as Prevention

 

Rocio Evelin Carranza Jacinto (she/her/ella) is led by the power of community. As a P’urhepecha woman living in the diaspora, the collective power of her community has cultivated her passion to advocate and be part of solutions that give voice to marginalized communities. She has worked alongside Washington State youth and families for over 10 years within the sectors of education, healthcare, and housing. 

Rocio Carranza Jacinto previously served as the Director of Family Engagement of Cocoon House, where her team led parenting seminars, classes, financial assistance, and family case management programming for youth and their families with the goal of reunification through education. She also worked part-time as a doula, specifically serving BIPOC, LGBTQ+, undocumented, young, and Spanish-speaking parents. In her spare time, Rocio dedicates her time organizing with Ireta Purhepecha a grassroots organization that works towards the preservation and advocacy of the Purhepecha community. Rocio holds a Bachelor’s degree in American Ethnic Studies and Environmental Studies from the University of Washington and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Rocio is grateful to join the PSY team, she is excited to collaborate with youth and she hopes to bring new growth to the team.
