Andrea Olvera

Youth Advisory Council Member

Andrea Olvera (she/they) is a queer immigrant based in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout their years of experiencing homelessness and working with various systems of care, they have led local initiatives that have been successful in expanding services by addressing gaps and barriers through the cultivation of a community that centers youth voice. Andrea Olvera is driven by building sustainable partnerships that will bridge cultural barriers in service provision prominent amongst underprivileged and immigrant communities.

Andrea is an expert in youth engagement and believes that through elevating one another in community we can pilot change in youth homelessness systems. Andrea is passionate about paving the way for future generations. I know my journey and my work will affect policies and services, but more importantly I know a queer, immigrant, Latina, or BIPOC young person is watching me closely with hopeful eyes. This work is bigger than me, bigger than my generation. Generational poverty and systemic oppression will end through our steps.
