ANNOUNCING

The PSY QTBIPOC Community Fund

Meet the 2022 Awardees for our QTBIPOC Community Fund Grants!

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The Point Source Youth QTBIPOC Community Fund seeks QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and HIV-focused grassroots leaders dedicated to building innovative, youth-driven services like direct cash transfers and rapid re-housing that work to end the youth homelessness crisis.

If your advocacy is centered on the belief that housing is healthcare, and that youth leadership is essential to ending the youth homelessness crisis — this initiative is for you!

  • PSY is seeking communities who can demonstrate how their work aligns with PSY’s fourfold mission:

    • Centering youth, equity, and trust. Young people have consistently elevated the importance of centering programs on youth needs and preferences, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth who face disproportionate discrimination and exclusion through existing systems.

    • Boosting housing stability and empowerment. Help youth sustainably exit homelessness and not only survive, but thrive, according to their chosen paths.

    • Adopting a flexible and simple approach. Youth experiencing homelessness have diverse needs, preferences, and circumstances. Creating access to resources to promote youth choice and self determination is the key to flexibility in service delivery.

    • Identifying and managing barriers to success. In preparation of program implementation and evaluation it is important to make space to track potential barriers and concerns of service delivery. This will allow programs to locate solutions and manage the unexpected events with success.

  • Applicants must:

    • Be a small grassroots QTBIPOC-led organization or community advocate and/or leader

    • Have a youth collaborator to support co-creation of this application

    • Serve as change leaders and advocates for QTBIPOC youth living with HIV and/or experiencing homelessness

    • Create innovative solutions/projects to promote housing as healthcare

    • Have a mission and goals that align with serving QTBIPOC youth ages 18-24 who are experiencing homelessness and/or living with HIV in their community

    • Be based in a U.S. territory community

    • Not required, but encouraged to be a 501(3)c status or obtain fiscal sponsorship

    • Applications will be available on the PSY website from March 15, 2022 thru April 5, 2022 and must be submitted online.

    • Selection of the 15 grantees is expected to be announced by May 13 with an initial grantee meeting taking place on May 26, 2022.

    • The grant period is May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023.

    • The awarded fund from the PSY operates for one year; however, grantees will have an opportunity to apply for renewal for one year. We recognize that some outcomes will take longer to achieve.

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

Currently funded by ViiV Healthcare and managed by Point Source Youth (PSY), the PSY QTBIPOC Community Fund will provide advocacy grants of up to $10,000 per year to 15 communities. The fund is focused on supporting QTBIPOC and HIV-focused grassroots organizations across the country to create interventions like direct cash transfers.

The PSY QTBIPOC Community Fund amplifies the local work of grassroots leaders and organizations to create a broad, national movement for new, significant and innovative  funding. Through the PSY QTBIPOC Community Fund we will work with local advocates to replicate and enhance this work in 30 local communities over the next three years.

The selected communities will receive robust advocacy training, technical assistance, and access to Point Source Youth's communications platforms to ensure they gain access to available funding and guarantee that QTBIPOC young people who are unstably housed are linked to stable housing and care.

  • First, relax, you got this!!

PSY is looking for sincere, compassionate community leaders and organizations with innovative ideas on ending youth homelessness in your communities using solutions like Direct Cash Transfer, Host Homes, and Rapid ReHousing. PSY seeks to place resources into communities that benefit youth living with HIV and experiencing homelessness and connect them to housing and care.

PSY wants to hear the current community work applicants are doing and how this new intervention relates and elevates that work. Therefore, we encourage applicants to read and follow the instructions in the RFP, particularly in the How to Apply and Program Narrative sections.

  • Each applicant is expected to work with a young person from your Youth Action Board or a youth in your program to assist with applying to this fund. PSY values youth input, and we understand and support that we cannot build anything without the voices and leadership of young people. For this application, we are seeking youth between the ages of 18-24 to assist with answering questions in the narrative section of the RFP. We have highlighted specific questions for a young adult in your community to answer. We expect applicants to work with youth on all aspects of the narrative to ensure their voices and suggestions are heard throughout.

  • Yes you can apply, the funding is to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among youth who are experiencing homelessness. We believe that housing is healthcare and helps to stabilize youth in every area of their lives, medically, mentally, financially, and emotionally. If your community provides or desires to provide an intervention for youth experiencing homelessness, then you are supporting and preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS. for youth. In your narrative, you would have to share in detail how you would do so.
