What Is Direct Cash Detroit?

1. PSY and Detroit Continuum of Care (CoC) have collaborated to design a Targeted Housing Assistance Program for youth at imminent risk of homelessness.

2. The program would give Detroit youth a one-time cash payment to help resolve a housing crisis and to avoid homelessness.

3. PSY will also partner with a local community-based organization to provide youth-directed programming, including housing stability, financial coaching and budgeting, life skills, and peer support.

Now Seeking a Lead Partner for Detroit THAP

Point Source Youth (PSY), the McGregor Foundation, the Homeless Action Network of Detroit, and our youth consultants invite Detroit-based community organizations to apply to serve as the lead implementing partner for Detroit’s Targeted Housing Assistance Program (THAP). RFPs are due April 30, 2026.

The selected lead community-based organization (CBO) will coordinate local implementation and build a network of additional partners (“Trained Providers”)—trusted community organizations that will be trained to help identify, recruit, and support young people eligible for Detroit-THAP.

To apply as the lead CBO, organizations must:

  • Be a public entity or 501(c)(3) nonprofit (not a private foundation) based in Detroit, Michigan.

  • Demonstrate experience in: housing navigation, mental health counseling, case management, and/or financial empowerment, youth/young adult–centered case management and leadership, supporting young people experiencing housing instability

  • Commit to empowerment, flexibility, youth trust, and racial + LGBTQIA+ equity

  • Be willing to participate in program evaluation and share data with PSY and research partners
