Webinar: Cultural Connection as Prevention

In this webinar, Isaac A. Sanders (they/them), PhD Student, University of Washington School of Social Work shares their findings from the Indigenous Youth Prevention Interviews. In collaboration with PSY, earlier this year a national survey was conducted to better understand the significance of cultural practices, family connections, and community support in preventing houselessness among indigenous young people.

This session discusses what those findings were, particularly the importance of connection in young people's lives with their families and cultures. It also provides insight to the changes that need to occur in organizations and systems to better support indigenous young people. This conversation is for any direct service provider, systems leader, policymaker or person who would like to understand the unique experiences of indigenous young people and the prevention strategies needed to uplift indigenous voices.
