Direct Cash to Prevent Youth Homelessness

What Is Direct Cash Hawai’i?

1. The Targeted Housing Assistance Program offers a scalable and youth-driven solution to prevent youth homelessness in Hawaiʻi by providing immediate financial assistance and tailored supportive services.

2. 50 young people ages 16-24 who are residing in Hawai’i and experiencing a housing crisis are eligible to enroll in the program.

3. Hawaiʻi experiences disproportionate rates of homelessness among Native Hawaiians and young people who identify as LGBTQIA+. Our direct cash assistance program will prioritize young people from these communities to help reduce youth homelessness and improve housing stability across Hawaiʻi.

Direct Cash Hawaiʻi Starts Cash Distribution

Point Source Youth is supporting the launch of Direct Cash Hawaiʻi in partnership with Partners in Care and the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center.

Following the Direct Cash Hawaiʻi kickoff and partner training series, providers have begun working with young people on individualized budget and housing plans. These plans will guide how flexible cash support is used to help young people stabilize and prevent homelessness before crisis deepens.

Partners have started working with young people to make budget plans and distribute cash.
